Special Planning and Naturalization Proposal - Camping Castell Mar, Castelló d'Empúries

The Castell Mar campsite is a tourist facility with an environmental vision: located in the middle of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, designed for people who seek contact with nature and are particularly interested in the local fauna, the campsite welcomes dogs and allows you to see up close a wide variety of birds that nest in the Rubina wetlands, which surround the campsite.
The ownership and management of the campsite have been working for years to naturalize the facilities and improve sustainability, with pioneering initiatives and measures in the field of landscape and environmental integration.
In this context, the naturalization proposal (special planning) tries to develop the environmental vision of the campsite and improve the fit with its surroundings, with specific interventions inside the equipment, on the perimeter and outside (redistribution of land uses, renaturation / recovery of the landscape and protection of local fauna).
The challenge is to make compatible the human presence in protected areas, enjoying nature, doing activities in the natural environment. To achieve this, it is necessary to start from the needs of the natural site, to attract the birds and animals and to create the spaces they need, around the space occupied by humans and in the middle of the campsite itself.
The bio-camping is designed as a place attractive to the birds and animals of the wetlands, where humans adapt to the natural environment during their holidays, they do not go there to transform it.
