Preliminary Study El Milia Hotel. Algeria

This document is a preliminary study for the construction of a convention center hotel in the Algerian city of El Milia in a growing urban area and in a remarkable landscape.
The proposal analyzes the urban context of El Milia and physical site orientation, topography, slopes, natural and built elements. At the same time defines the concept of hotel, from references and actual conditions that lead to a typology, commercially oriented and given construction process.
The architectural project is made by plants and general sections, calculation of areas intended for each use, and landscape study volumetric study of the gaps of the plot, interior design studio type room with indicative proposals of materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
From outside, the building is seen as a volumetric composition of two boxes: the highest contains 140 rooms and lower the hotel's public functions. The upper case is wrapped in a protective skin diaphanous lamas, which protect the rooms from excessive sunlight, and the lower box is also a lattice opening half to the environment, revealing the inner garden as an area exclusively protected.
