Caves Hotel: new building with underground parking in the historic center of Peralada. Draft project

The project program includes a hotel, apartment buildings, commercial premises and an underground car park in the Peralada Caves PMU sector. The location is a prominent place in the historic center, near one of the main entrances to the walled city and right in front of the entrance to the castle.
It is a proportionally large area: the walled enclosure of Peralada has an area of 89,000m2 and the area of the PMU, with 10,580m2, proportionally represents 12% of the historic core.
As a close reference we have Peralada Castle, which has a footprint area of 3,000m2 with its most modern extensions. The project has a large scale, bigger than the scale of the surrounding urban fabric. Therefore, we propose a strategy based on volumetric fragmentation and landscape integration.
The underground car park, with 600 spaces, is planned to provide service to the entire area, taking into account the needs of the monumental complex of the Castle at specific times, such as the days of the Peralada International Music Festival.
