Public tender for the adaptation and operation, under an administrative concession, of the marina facilities in the northern area of the port of Valencia Shopping Mall

Due to its location and size, the site has the potential to become the centre of interest on the northern shore of the marina. Due to its direct connection to the beaches and access from the city centre, it is the ideal place to install a shopping centre with “anchor” brands which will attract a large number of visitors.

The planned building has therefore a unique volumetry, a great visual presence, since it enjoys great visibility from the entire marina, from the beaches and from the sea (upon entering the port). The building type is “umbraculum – shade house” with a double-skin, where the solar protection elements have prominence and define the character of the building.
On the floor layout, the diagonal circulation axis, the ramps and the triple central space stand out; all of them contribute to generating a lively, interesting and diaphanous composition, a Mediterranean architecture of Valencian inspiration, with indoor palm trees.

Key concepts: marina landmark and anchor building, large shade house (the light of Valencia), shopping garden (inspired by the palm grove of Elche).
