Public parking Cadaqués – Riera de Sant Vicenç. Preliminary study

The project proposes a solution for a recurring problem: the lack of parking in the urban core of Cadaqués. Every summer the avalanche of tourists collapses the only access road to the town center and the parking lots in the center are insufficient due to the high daily demand. At times with the greatest influx of visitors, vehicles have been diverted, at the town's entrance roundabout, towards Portlligat in order to facilitate parking. The municipality has a high level of tourism occupancy, to which is added the visitors who are received daily who are not staying there. Parking there is getting more complicated every year.
The chosen location, on Riera de Sant Vicenç Road (highway between Roses and Cadaqués), stands out due to the strong slope of the terrain. The project adapts to the topography and proposes a car park with 8 levels in stepped terraces, with a landscape treatment of green roofs, aiming to preserve the landscape and views of the surroundings.
