Ideas project for the Concordia square in Calonge, Girona.

Concorde square is located in the urban centre, next to the medieval old town of Calonge. It is a central public space of strategic importance and also has a significant urban value for citizens.
Because the area is characterized by a strong difference in height, Concordia square is divided into two main parts with two different heights and it is today closed with concrete walls that limit the relationship with the city.
We aim to create a place that will be a meeting point in a downtown area, a site to pass by and a place with its own identity and prominence for it own.
We remove the walls changing them with green slopes to open a central space in the upper and lower level of the square to the city and create a new public plaza with green areas and spaces for different activities.
The new plaza design is born from the desire to create a relationship between the main elements that dominate public space today and to create a geometry which unifies and transmits the will of relations with the surrounding space.
