Competition for the gates of Collserola
In September 2011, the city of Barcelona presents the initiative to order and improve facilities and landscape the areas situated between the city and the Collserola Mountain. Under the slogan "The doors of Collserola" there are 16 sectors of project, with a vertical orientation: the mountain low in the city, the city incorporates the natural park.
JMA proposal focuses on four of these sectors: Diagonal, Vallvidrera, Tibidabo and Penitentes.
El master plan proposes the spaces of opportunities and the traces of activities which will then take place in separate projects; in the case of new types, starting with a pilot project. Critical points: barriers, insecure places, crosses of infrastructures and spaces are treated as spaces of opportunity.
The central concept, present in four projects, is a project of management of public space. The network of open spaces is understood as the main asset of the city. To improve its use (from the economic, cultural, educational and social point of view) arises a management project, a model that can structure the participation of all stakeholders: private sector, institutions, citizens and occasional users.
